Bob Hope Elementary

Bob Hope Elementary School was a 1970's 400 student facility that was scheduled to be enlarged to a 600 student campus and improved to incorporate the latest and most current district standards in its new renovation and addition. The old school had problems with fragmented administration areas, inadequate storage, and inadequate library, science and other educational support spaces. The site had inadequately separated bus and parent drop off locations.

The existing and new school addition will be integrated with a new façade, The new addition will have new science labs, a new library, new computer labs, and new classrooms. The inadequate kitchen will have an addition to enlarge it to serve the new student capacity. The interior mall-like corridor is now extended to service the new bus loop entry. The administration area is now consolidated to one location, and completely redone. All classrooms are fitted with the latest networked technology, and finishes are redone throughout. The school is relit with new fixtures to take advantage of the current CPS rebate program, for more efficient fixtures. The new addition is a one story slab on grade, with over excavated structural pad for soil conditions, and the frame is structural steel with drywall backup. All is clad in masonry veneer. The existing school will now be 100% fire sprinkled.

Site components include a landscaped play area by the district, a new bus loop, a new continuous parent drop off loop, and a new hardtop play area. Care was taken to protect and preserve the existing heritage Live Oak Trees on the front of the site.
